Cork Flooring Singapore

Eco-friendly. Great Durability. Stunning Design.

Why Cork Flooring?

Cork flooring might not come to mind immediately as a flooring option. Indeed, whilst it has been around for a few decades already, it has only grown in popularity since the turn of the century. Traditionally, due to its strong sound-proofing properties, it is most commonly found in the floors of churches and libraries. However, you see it in a lot more places these days.

This explosion in popularity is largely attributed to the growing trend of eco-friendliness.

Cork is retrieved from the bark of cork oak trees. These trees are grown mainly in southern Europe, in countries like Spain and Portugal. It is harvested for commercial uses, where it goes through multiple rounds of grounding and compression before it is finally turned into usable sheets.

This material is entirely natural, which makes it appeal to the audiences today. It is highly sustainable, and can be replenished very easily.

What Customers Are Saying

I love my new cork flooring. Not only has it cleaned up from regular dirt so far, it has also withstood paint-covered paw prints from my careless cat. I’ll be coming back here all my floor tiles in the future if I ever need them, no doubt.
– Raj Singh (customer)
Last December you helped me install cork tiles for our new kitchen floor. I wanted to let you know how happy we’ve been with the flooring; not only is it absolutely beautiful, but it is very comfortable to walk on, it is easy to clean and it’s holding up extremely well. Thank you so much for all the questions you answered and for all the help you gave me as we placed our order.
– Cheryl Lee (customer)
Many thanks for your excellent service. The cork tiles arrived here at home on time and in great shape. Eventually found time to lay them and they are a spectacular success! Thank you to SingaporeFlooring!

Benefits of Cork Flooring

Modern Design

Typically, the design of cork flooring closely resembles that of traditional hardwood flooring. Indeed, this design is trending right now, with many households going for a warm rustic look for their rooms. However, there’s more than just this for cork flooring. Similar to vinyl flooring, cork flooring is available in a wide range of colours, style, and texture. This allows you free reign over your design theme.

Great Comfort

One of the most important thing that a good flooring should offer is leg comfort. After all, that’s the place where you spend much of your time walking around or standing on. Cork flooring guarantees that, with enhanced cushioning in its material. Not only that, but it also serves as a good thermal insulator, helping to regulate heat in the room, ensuring that it’s neither too warm nor too cold.

Comfortable Feel

Another reason why public spaces like libraries and churches favour cork flooring, is that this flooring is fire-resistant. Unlike other materials, cork only ignites at extreme high temperatures. This serve as an insurance against any incidental fire outbreak, allowing the occupants enough time to evacuate the room in the event of an emergency.

Long Lasting

Aesthetics aside, cork flooring is also great for anyone who has practicality as their main priority. Due to the natural durability of cork, it is able to outlast many other flooring types. Cork is a resistant material, well-equipped to handle the daily wear and tear. In fact, it is often the chosen flooring for commercial properties that receives high human footfall.

The Cork Collection consists of several earthy colors in a wide variety of patterns. From linear Mikado to marbled Elba, there’s sure to be a Cork Collection option that complements any style.

The structure of cork allows it to be both compressive and elastic. Because of this, cork floors are extremely durable and act as excellent sound and thermal insulators; they will dent or warp when subjected to pressure, but will return to form due to cork’s inherent superior ‘memory’. Cork floors are often used in churches, libraries, and museums where sound control is desired.

Why Cork Flooring Is Ideal For You

If sustainability is at the top of your mind, then cork is the perfect material. This flooring is environmentally-friendly, with zero toxic waste emitted during its production.

Additionally, cork is also fully biodegradable. End the end of its lifespan, it can be discarded without causing pollution of any kind. What better ways to do your part for mother nature, then choosing green and clean materials for your renovation projects?

Sound insulation is also another property that appeals to many of our customers. Due to the nature of their work, they might create a lot of sounds that would otherwise cause complaints amongst their neighbours. However, with cork flooring, the sound is now well-contained within just the four walls of the room.

This also makes it perfect for music lovers and hobbyists. You can now jam all day without worrying about being a nuisance to your neighbours!

Other Considerations Before Buying Cork Flooring

Scratches

Whilst it is certainly durable, cork flooring is not as scratch-resistant as other materials. That means you have to be extra careful when moving heavy furniture around the house. Otherwise, you could find your floor being left with scratch marks that would be hard to remove. It is ideal for households with the furniture and other fixtures stay permanent. If you like to rearrange the decorations in your rooms from time to time, there might be other better flooring options for you.

This also makes this flooring less than ideal for households with small children and young toddlers. Any careless interaction with their toys could leave permanent marks on these floors.

Color Fade

Something to take note of would be the colouring of these floorings. They are not as permanent as other materials.

With the passing of time, the colours in these floorings would eventually fade. They become lighter, and this process would hasten if the flooring is exposed to high amounts of sunlight on a daily basis.

It is therefore recommended to install cork flooring in rooms where there is minimal exposure to direct sunlight.
