Rubber Flooring Singapore
Extreme-Durability. Shock-Absorbent. Sound-Insulation
Why Rubber Flooring?
With many properties similar to linoleum flooring and vinyl flooring, rubber flooring belongs to a a type of flooring that is often referred to as resilient flooring. Due to its natural sturdiness, it is used as the preferred flooring type for many commercial properties.
Hard-wearing environments, such as the gym, playroom, laundry room, and recreational rooms, are where you’ll most often find this kind of flooring. Rubber flooring is extremely durable, and withstand the stress of daily wear and tear very well.
Mostly chosen for its heavy-duty properties, it is admittedly less than impressive when it comes to the aesthetics department. Due to natural blandness of rubber, it does not offer much in terms of colour or texture.
As such, it is not as commonly found in modern homes. Instead, it is more widely found in commercial and industrial areas, where greater emphasis is placed on the functional needs of the area than the aesthetic needs.

Benefits of Rubber Flooring
If there’s one thing that rubber flooring is known for, it is its immense durability. It is one of the most durable flooring types. This is why it remains a mainstay in today’s world, with commercial projects guaranteeing its continual use. Rubber flooring provides great stability and a good walking grip. It is also able to withstand heavy loads, whilst offering superb cushioning and shock absorption.
With its flat texture, rubber flooring actively dissuades the buildup of bacteria and other harmful organism. This is in sharp contrast to carpet flooring, whose surface allows for dust mites and other allergens to be trapped within. As such, rubber flooring is an ideal choice for those constantly dealing with allergies, or for individuals for whom hygiene is of extreme importance.
Since it is so durable, it can be expected that effort required to maintain the flooring at a high level is very minimal. Indeed, weekly cleaning of the floor with a damp mop is all you will ever need. Be careful though, not to use an overly wet mop. Avoid using harsh detergents too, for it could damage certain rubber flooring types. Instead, simply stick to mop and water and let them do their magic.
Another one of the much touted benefits is the ease of installation. Rubber tiles are amongst the easiest flooring materials to install. Whilst adhesives could be used, it is not usually the preferred way of installation. Instead, interlocking edges, of edge pins that hold tiles together, are much more common. These two options are also what makes installation such a breeze with this flooring type.

Why Rubber Flooring Is Ideal For You
If you’re running a gym or any other commercial property where the floor needs to be properly insulated against heavy impact activity, then you’ve come to the right place. Rubber flooring is indeed the preferred choice for these places.
That’s because it can serve as good insurance for your floor. The cushioned surface not only makes for good walking texture, but also has good shock absorption properties that is sure to come in handy.
Whilst this type of flooring may be rarer in residential properties, it has slowly emerged as a trend worth following.
For one, it has become a popular choice amongst music lovers. That’s due to the natural sound-insulating properties, making it the perfect fit for their music rooms. Now, it becomes a more than adequate replacement for the egg cartons that would otherwise have to be pasted all over the room.
Other Considerations Before Deciding On A Rubber Flooring
If you have bought anything made from rubber, you would know that there’s a particular smell associated with this material. This holds true with rubber flooring as well. For a few weeks after the initial installation, it will be common to have the odour stay within the room. As such, it may not be the best choice if you are running a tight project, and would be expecting visitors immediately upon the its completion.
However, if you have a higher tolerance, then this would be a small factor. The smell would be gone after a while, and it would just be like any other flooring you would otherwise have installed, except much more durable.
Probably the biggest concern for anyone going for a particular design theme is the look of the flooring. In this department, rubber flooring does lack a lot.
Coming in the standard polished black and slate gray colour, there’s really not too much room left for the imagination. Indeed, if your number one concern when designing your new space is the aesthetics, there might be other more attractive options, such as the engineered wood flooring or even spc flooring.
If however, you place a bigger priority on the durability and sturdiness of the flooring, then rubber flooring might just be for you. It ultimately depends on the purpose of your project!
